Location
I took this shot on the South Carolina coast. In Charleston.Time
This is my most favorite shot of all time. It was late in the evening, and the sun was going down... it was a beautiful sunset.Lighting
It was all natural lighting. The sunset was casting this ethereal orange glow around everything.Equipment
I am a self taught photographer. I was still an early novice at the time so I really didn't know how to use a lot of different functions on a camera. I was using a Fugifilm X-S1. No special lenses or tripod. No flash. Just the camera landscape setting.Inspiration
I had taken my son to the coast after his BCT graduation for a celebration. He had to remain in his uniform to go off post. As we were walking along the beach I was taking photos of him. I noticed that he was silhouetted in the sunset and I told him to salute me. He did and I was able to capture my favorite photo of him. It took my breath away.Editing
The only post processing I did was cropping. I can't remember if I ran a filter over this particular one or not. I do have some that I adjusted the contrast and saturation on.In my camera bag
I carry my Cannon EOS T7, A TAMRON 18-400 Lens, a Cannon 75-300, and a Cannon 18-55, my tripod, chargers, filters, extra sd cards, extra batteries, and my Samsung Surface pro. I also keep a smaller camera bag close by with my Fugifilm X-S1 and a Fujifilm EXR in case my 13 year old son wants to shoot some photos.Feedback
Use what light you have around you. Natural lighting can go a long way if you can catch it at the right angle.
