Behind The Lens

Location

This is shot on location in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Time

Shot about 4:00PM in the afternoon. (nap time apparently)

Lighting

This is completely natural lighting.

Equipment

Shot with Canon 5D, Lens 16-35mm ISO 1600 at f2.8 Natural light hand held

Inspiration

The older couple were actually sleeping in the museum without a care. I thought it was a great moment to capture.

Editing

I added a small amount of blur to the folks walking past the sleeping couple to enhance their motion.

In my camera bag

I carry a Canon 5D Mark II with 3 lenses usually; The 70-200mm f2.8, the 16-35mm f2.8, the 24-105 f3.5. A strobe, and a few flex reflectors, a fold up tripod, a monopod and a steady bag. (a bean bag with a strap for fast support.)

Feedback

I look for moments of candid humor and interactions of people. I keep my wide angle lens ready mostly, and my steady bag close for support in low light. I also pretend not to be watching the people when I shoot so I may catch people doing natural actions without posing.
