Location
This is the 7th Avenue entrance to NY Penn Station. This image was taken during my commute to work. There were certain days that the sun was completely overwhelming you as you come up the stairs to the street. A stark contrast to the dreary look of the flourescent lighting below. With my iPhone in hand I was prepped and ready to shoot as I love the huslte and the bustle of the city. As i waited for the phone to adjust to the light, this stranger, stood alone against the light and the traffic. I took the shot and when I edited the photo in Snapseed, I stopped in my tracks.Time
This image was taken in the morning during the rush to get to work.Lighting
Light in street photography really adds to the mood of an image. It sometimes may as significant as the subject in the image.Equipment
This image was taken with an iPhone. I cannot honestly remember which one it was. A 5S if I had to guess.Inspiration
I love NYC. While I worked in NYC, I made it a point to shoot every day.Editing
Yes I edited this image in Snapseed on my iPhone. In my camera bag
I always carry my Olympus OM-D EM-5. Prior to that I shot with the Canon 5D Mark III until Thomas Leuthard showed my the error (or excess weight) of my ways.Feedback
Timing is everything. Shoot as often as you can. My commute was very repetitious. I tried to challenge myself to shoot the same subject in as many ways as I could. It is a great training tool when composition is sometimes dictated to you in street photography.
