Location
This photo was taken in Silverton Colorado after taking the Durango Silverton train.Time
The photo was taken around noon. I had just over an hour in Silverton before I had to catch the train back to Durango.Lighting
Just normal afternoon lighting. The contrast lighting helps in black in white.Equipment
This was hand held with an old Canon EOS digital camera with no flash and the standard lens. Composition and proper lighting will allow any camera to take a great photo.Inspiration
I liked the old train that obviously hasn't moved in a while. The character of the train with the mountains in background takes you back to the past.Editing
Not a lot of processing. Just removal of the color and some sharpening and contrast. In my camera bag
I usually carry a 28-105mm, 10-22mm, 70-300mm and a 50mm prime in my bag. These lenses usually cover most if not all situations I usually shoot. I sometimes pull out the heavy 100-400mm if I know I need that to get up close. I have also been carrying some extension tubes and a Canon 500D close up lens for doing macros.Feedback
Have composition in mind and keep your background in mind.
