I captured this awesome photo in my front yard in Lakeside, California. Sometimes the most amazing events to photograph are just outside your front door. I think It just takes a creative eye to see a photo opportunity no matter where you are.Time
I took this photograph at approximately 2:30 p.m. (Pacific time) It was just after lunch time.Lighting
The lighting was almost perfect for this shot due to the time of day that it was captured. I had a few that did not bode as well because I was trying to just photograph the mother and her young without posing a threat while showing them respect, as this species is one of the few deadly species of spider in North America So i Did not mess around with the settings on the camera much. All in all I think the natural sunlight helped me a lot in many aspects of this pic.Equipment
Camera: E1680W Aperture: f/3.3 ISO: 64 Exposure: 10/450 I did not use any tripod, flash, or any other special equipment. I only had the e1680w at the time which is not a bad camera at all. This photo however actually truly inspired me and is the sole reason that I took on photography as a personal hobby.Inspiration
I LOVE!!! spiders. the black widow has always been my favorite species for as long as I can remember. I noticed that this beautiful female specimen had an egg sac maybe a week before I took this photo. I watched her closely just admiring her beauty, and one day I looked to see how she was doing and I saw the sac of eggs hatching with her right there in perfect stance. I was so excited I almost cried watching it. I know how weird that sounds but I think it was magical in every sense of the word to be able to witness such a wonderful event.Editing
I am still learning as this photo actually encouraged me to take on photography as a personal hobby. I just recently started learning about how to do post-processing. This image is RAW. I am sure it could look a lot better if it were touched up though. In my camera bag
At the time I took this photo I did not have a bag. I had only a point and shoot Camera: E1680W 16mp. This photo as i said previously truly inspired me to become a "photographer". Since that picture was taken I have since bought a Nikon D3200 DSLR. I have a few different lenses and a variety of filters. I am not rich so to me the amount of money I dished out on this hobby is a lot, however I have taken some really cool photos that impress me to know that I captured them. Macro shots of insects and flowers seem to be my best. I also have a tripod , and a shutter remote. I have since upgraded to a Sony mirrorless a600.Feedback
The best advice I have for anybody trying to capture something similar to this picture is to remove all fear and still uphold extreme respect to nature while doing so. I wish I could say that it was state of the art equipment that aloud me to capture this scene, but the truth of the matter is that it was a standard digital camera with nothing special . I think the fact that I was more than willing to get up close and personal with the deadly spider and her 300+ babies because I removed any fear and instead was filled with excitement and joy . Those facts along with some sun lighting my scene put me in the perfect situation to get my photo. PASSION and LOVE is what, at i recommend to those trying for something similar, that is how I got this , and I think that if you have passion for what your shooting it will show in the resulting photos.
