I don't like snakes or snake pictures much but I find this quite endearing! Great capture :-)

This is a great shot. Looks like an older snake, but maybe it's just the angle. He's very sweet. :-)

Location
This image was made on the Texas Photo Ranch located in Refugio, Texas.Time
This was taken about 9:00 a.m.Lighting
Lighting was difficult because it was partly cloudy with a high wind. I had to wait until the sun peeked through the clouds.Equipment
Nikon D600, Nikkor 105mm macro with a nikkor 1.4x teleconverter, feisol tripodInspiration
Rattlesnakes are very intriguing, interesting and dangerous. I love to capture images of them whenever possible. The yellow flowers in the background add color and a sense of contrast - danger vs. beauty.Editing
I processed it in Photoshop and limited it to basic cropping and lighting/tone adjustments. In my camera bag
Nikon D600 and D7000, Nikkor 80-400mm; 105mm macro; 300mm f4; 1.4x teleconverter; 18-55mm; 100-300mm, filters, remote triggersFeedback
Be careful. This snake is actually a very small rattler. He could not strike and reach me. Don't push your safety. Instead of getting very close, use a large lens with a wide open f-stop.
