Behind The Lens

Location

Haast Pass, South Island of New Zealand.

Time

About 10 in the morning, driving along Haast Pass well sheltered by forest all along the way.

Lighting

Large source lighting due to high fog as sun was well hidden.

Equipment

My Canon EOS 1 Ds Mark lll, EF 24-70mm F2.8L lens. No tripod was used as space is rather limited.

Inspiration

As I was crossing this single lane bridge and by taking a peek down, I saw this beautiful cascading falls, so after crossing I decided to park my car further down the road, walked back up to catch a few photos of this beautiful falls. No space to stand tripod as it was a narrow single lane cross over, so with no other choice I decided to station my camera against the hand railing, with the camera strap rolled around the railing to stabilize the camera for this slow shutter shot.

Editing

Not really except boosting up the clarity slightly.

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS 1 Ds mark lll, EF 24-70mm F2.8L and EF 70-200 F2.8L. No speedlite as I never like taking photos with a flash.

Feedback

A very steady tripod for slow shutter shot obviously, no direct sunlight shinning on water or any other area. Composition is important, meaning how you compose does really matter.
