I first discovered these not far from where I live, took a photo of one and was surprised when up on screen at all the different colors. To the naked eye they just look black and fly so fast it is hard to keep them in sight. On this day kids had left some chip board near where there are, right on the outskirts of this place, and I noticed several tiger beetles on it, also it was slightly higher ground than on that I stood, so it made a for a great shot. Here they are just getting ready to mate. I am at the moment still working on the other 3 photos where you can see the penetration.
