Behind The Lens

Location

On my way home from Art class in Bath, England.

Time

Around 3pm. I passed the stairs on a detour from my regular route home. I passed the stairs and was struck by what I saw. I just felt, with the correct framing, this everyday image could be a great piece of art.

Lighting

I utilised only natural lighting.

Equipment

I used an iPhone as I find that the camera is very good and I have captured some stunning images without the need for my full photography kit.

Inspiration

I often see metaphors is everyday objects. The stairs represented the journey through life, littered with the minutiae of subjective personal experiences

Editing

I intensified some of the colours in Photoshop to make the image more vibrant.

In my camera bag

My iPhone or a Nikon D3300 and a Gorilla Grip tripod

Feedback

Snap what you see on your regular travels. We really are surrounded by art every single day. Some of my most popular work has been images captured on my way to or from somewhere. It's a way of truly appreciating how much beauty is in what can often be seen as a difficult world.
