I was wanting to practice with my new Tamron 150-600 lens and a lady I work with offered to take me to the private grounds they have along the river. She said there are some eagles nesting there and they have a blind, so with my new lens and a new experience sitting in a blind, I was able to capture my first eagle in flight.Time
This was about 10:30am.Lighting
As this was taken in early March, the winter sun was still at a southern angle in the morning sky.Equipment
Canon t3i with Tamron 150-600mm lens with a tripod but I had to follow the eagle so loosely secured for movement. Just tilting to try to capture the moment. I'm new at this game, so this is my lucky shot.Inspiration
I've seen so many captures of eagles in flight and just wanted to try it ... this is not a professional shot, and much more practice and skill required. This is not easy to do!Editing
Canon offers Digital Photo Professional with some presets and I used the Auto Standard in and backed off some of the strength, then went to Picasa for the signature and cropping and some highlighting and brightening. May have used Microsoft picture manager for fine tuning ... just played with various programs until I liked the look. Post processing is an adventure and I have no special likes or dislikes yet.In my camera bag
I carry everything and take the Canon T3i and various lenses everyday to work, as you never know what you will see on the drive.Feedback
Practice - Practice - Practice ... I recommend a tripod that may offer more flexibility than what I own ... something sturdier and a flexible ball type head. My tripod doesn't offer much, but some steadiness for sharper shots, which I require. Hand-held takes much more skill, but I'm working on it.
