This photo was taken during a camping trip at Pretty Water Lake in the small town of Sapulpa, Ok near my home. We had heard the fishing would be good that morning so we crawled out of our tent bright and early to try and catch a bite.Time
I'm not usually much of an early riser, but thankfully I rose early this day! We were up before sunrise to get our fishing lines in the water. Sunrise came around 6:00 AM. It was a beautiful morning! Cool, clear and calm.Lighting
This one was shot with completely natural lighting. I think the lack of man-made lighting in the area really helped to draw out the beauty of the sunrise. Sometimes, the most beautiful things are completely natural. I was blessed to have been able to capture this moment. The sunrise was so stunning that it took me a minute to realize I just had to snap the photo.Equipment
Since this was an impromptu camping/fishing trip, I didn't go with the intention of taking pictures. So, I wasn't well prepared. This was taken with an iPhone 4s and the flash setting was set to auto.Inspiration
The raw beauty of nature was my inspiration. I've seen my share of sunrises; but this one, accompanied by the stillness of the morning was breathtaking. I just had to try and capture it because I didn't think anyone else would believe how stunning it was.Editing
Minimal post-processing was applied to this photo. I made a slight adjustment to the contrast and tried to bring the colors out just a bit.In my camera bag
As an amateur, I don't have much as far as equipment goes. So, I'm currently using a Canon Power Shot. It goes with me whenever I intend to photograph or think I'll be somewhere to capture some cool, interesting, or pretty shots.Feedback
If it's a sunrise you're after, then my best advice is to get to your destination with plenty of time to spare. The colors and lighting can change so quickly during the sunrise that you'll want to be prepared. And don't be afraid to snap several photos. You just may end up with a gem!!
