Location
My friend invited me to explore an old house on her property and dilapidated houses are one of my favorite places to shoot, and just to be in general.Time
It was getting dark outside, so some time between sunset and sundown. The house sat on a hill but we're in Appalachia, with trees everywhere, so we weren't getting much sun at this location.Lighting
I can't remember exactly the lighting we used, but I do know it was a combination of natural light from a window-less window, and probably something like the flash lights from our cell phones!Equipment
This was shot on my Canon 70D, likely with my 50mm as it was my favorite of 3 lenses I owned at the time.Inspiration
I'd been wanting to try a levitation photo for a long time and what better time?Editing
Yes! It's required for a levitation manipulation. I had taken 2 photos to merge together: one with my friend positioned on a stool, and one without her or the stool. In my camera bag
This photo was taken years ago, but I currently keep my Canon body with my Sigma 35 1.4 attached at most times, my 50mm, 18-55 kit lens, and 70-200. I also keepy Yongnuo flash, battery charger, SD cards, extra flash batteries, deodorant (comes in handy at weddings in the summer!), and whatever else I think I can stuff in there for the current session.Feedback
Just go for it! Levitation manipulations are so much fun. They are work, and you have to really pay attention to detail while taking your photo AND while editing.
