You have no idea how nice it is to hear that! Took me ages to get the shot and I'm still not 100% happy with it but I suppose its a learning curve.

Something interesting, the watch used was my grandfathers and it stopped when he passed away. The pipe was handed down to my grandfather and is an antique. Magnifying glass is an antique too. The little wooden box is also an antique and I had to glue the lid back together after the huge earthquake that hit the UK, my clock fell off the wall and cracked it.

Thank you Rod. I think still life is probably going to end up being one of my stronger points, but still there's plenty I need to learn yet..

I was totally enthralled with this photo as soon as I saw it. It is absolutely marvelous. The composition, the colour, the writing with the pen, the lit pipe; I love it. It is right out of a mystery novel! Lesley

I love this still life, so much to see and take in. The burning pipe is a great lead in and makes the shot.

This took my breath away! I am putting together some still life photos in my head and gathering items, so this is really interesting to me. I thought it was an ad for a Sherlock Holmes movie when I first saw it. Each of the items is so interesting and the placement of each is perfect. Fabulous photo!

Congratulations. Well done and deserved. You managed to bring life to this superb composition because the feeling it transmits is that of a pause to relax from or think about aspects of an activity that could be writing, reading or both ... a live still life. Well done.
