This shot is part of the campaign for the theatrical play "Siniora Malena" directed by Harry Vorkas where the actress Vana Barba plays the role of Malena; the play is performed in Chatzichristou Theater, Athens, Greece.Time
This image was taken on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 9:11 PM at Theater ChatzichristouLighting
With the cooperation of the director I used orange and red theater stage lights and a smoke machine.Equipment
Olympus OM-D E-M1 and Lumix G Vario 35-100mm f/2.8 and the technical details about the shot S 1/160 sec; f/4.0; ISO 1600. A shot without any flash or tripod support.Inspiration
It was a magical moment. Vana relaxed and “transformed” as Siniora Malena who was “sleeping” and looked extremely beautiful. ? tried to be a secret eye who wanted to watch and capture her beauty, her body. I wanted to create a dream picture...Editing
Only the basic post-processing,correcting brightness/contrast, sharpening and conversion from RAW to JPEG. I think that it is better to have a good shot from the start and do less post-processing. The magic of photography is to create the correct light, the best atmosphere between photographer and model during the shooting and not to “play” endless hours in front of the computer. In my camera bag
My cameras are the Olympus OM-D E-M1& M5, and a Lumiix GM1. My lenses, in my bag are my favorite M. Zuiko 45mm f1/8, Lumix 20mm f1/7, M. Zuiko 12mm f/2.0 and Lumix G Vario 35-100mm f/2.8. Also, one can always find in my bag 2 LED lights for outdoor and location shooting and an old “friend” Metz Flash 50 AF-1 digital.Feedback
Theatrical photography is a magical process. First of all, the excellent knowledge of the camera and the use of bright lenses will give the ability to shoot in low light conditions and help to capture moments during a theatrical play. I believe that theatrical or stage photography in the studio, or at a stage with studio flashes create “family” photos without emotions or fail to show the atmosphere of the play. To capture images like this the photographer has to become part of the play, watch rehearsals and leave the actors play and “transform” into the heroes of the play. A good cooperation with the director and light designer creates good images for the promotion of the theatrical play.
