Love the perspective from which this image was taken. The shadow at the bottom of the building makes it feel like the building in coming out of the edge of the photo. Cool.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a shopping centre that had been converted from an old factory in Melbourne, when my partner and I lived there some years ago.

Time

The photo was taken at around 6 p.m, I remember there was a giant pocket watch hanging from a wall in the centre.

Lighting

The lighting was completely natural, the sun cast the shadow on the building. You can see the sky in the background with some cloud.

Equipment

I was using a standard dslr, olympus I think. Just my steady hands, I lay back flat on a bench and hit the capture button.

Inspiration

It reminded me of a space shuttle launch site, and the time of day, the shadows and everything just seemed perfect.

Editing

I never post process as I find it's kind of cheating, this photo was literally the only one I took of this scene.

In my camera bag

I'm very minimalist when it comes to equipment, I have my camera and a spare set of batteries. That's it.

Feedback

Have your camera close by all the time because life is constantly beautiful, tragic, complex and awesome. Moments like this happen every day so be vigilant with the camera and go catch those moments.
