Single exposure. I have never posted a stacked milky way. Sometimes i use layers to bring out the foreground but NEVER on the sky. This like most of my work is made from a single shot.

Absolutely amazing shot. More please, I don't get to see stars often , just grey clouds.

Just a regular old flashlight. Keep it moving during the exposure for a few seconds

Also on some of my other shots I use the same flashlight and wrap a white plastic bag around it to get it just the right amount of light to leave it on for the entire exposure, this technique is perfect for timelapses so you can just leave it on.

Oh my god! Beautiful!! Did you do anything special to make the galaxy show up or did you just point and shoot?

Well its certainly more to it then pointing and shooting...
This may help you out ---http://500px.com/AaronGroen/stories/85615/how-to-shoot-the-milky-way but basicly the long exposure and high iso bring it out more but if you cant see it with your eyes its not going to look good in a pic

Beautiful location and wonderful capture. A reminder to us all just how big the night time sky can be. :-)

When I try taking photos of the night sky I think my shutter speed is open too long because I have a hard time getting this many stars to show up and the sky moves so I get blurry stars.
