Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the bride's house on her wedding day.

Time

It was right after she had gotten ready and the time was 7AM. Poor bride had to get up at 4AM to start getting ready for her wedding and be ready by 7AM for photos.

Lighting

I used a profoto b1 with a 2x3 softbox which was to her left side and it lit up her face beautifully.

Equipment

I use 2x Nikon D800 bodies. 1x 24-70mm, 1x 50mm, 1x 70-200mm, 1x 105mm macro, profoto b1 with various light shaping tools, manfrotto stands and tripod. Also have 4x Nikon SB910's in my bag. As well Profoto Air Sync Remotes and pocket wizards.

Inspiration

I was tired of taking pictures of the bride from the front and sides. Her red outfit was really beautiful and I wanted to capture her beautiful face along with her outfit and jewelry. So I got up really high and using my 24-70mm I captured this stunning picture.

Editing

The photo was enhanced in photoshop for minor touches.

In my camera bag

On a wedding day I have 2 bodies, 4 lenses & 4 strobes along with all the nitty gritty stuff a photographer needs.

Feedback

Make sure not to fall on the bride when your really high up. That would end things bad. Just use some sort of light (even window light) to light her face and focus on the eyes and everything else will fall through beautifully.
