Photo made in Fierro a Ghost Town in Grant County, New Mexico.

This photo depicts very gracefully formed bracing rails running the total length of the trestle and forty feet beyond on both ends. They are placed inside the running rails to increase stability of the trestle and keep the ties from being shifted, especially since this trestle is on a slight curve. These are often wrongly identified as guard rails or check rails.

Fierro is Spanish for iron and that was what the mine there produced. Peak production was between 1914 (the time of World War I) and the 1930's.

Lovely yes and graceful. The "Superior Skill" peer recognition is much appreciated as it makes the laying on the stones and ties all worthwhile.

I'm thinking the welder/mechanic who did this job thought so also! How great that 3 or 4 decades ago they could take the time to make something esthetically perfect etc........

I liked the rather reverse of what most people call merging lines. Thanks for the vote and "All Star" peer recognition.
