After following the course "Painting with Photoshop" (Jack Davis) I chose this photograph to turn into a painting.

At my nephew's family birthday party (seven adults and two small children), the Birthday Boy was often overwhelmed by the noise, the stuff all over the place, and the activity which had nothing to do with him, so he retreated to a different room and watched movies. His younger brother (aged 4), however, preferred to sit together with the group. Yet he still managed in the midst of all the chaos to retreat into his own little space and entertain himself ... not with his blocks or his trucks or any of his other toys, but with his grandfather's iPad. I thought this was a stunning visual moment of both how one can retreat into one's own world without leaving the room, AND what it's like to be four years old anno 2015.
