Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot during a Dani Diamond workshop on natural light. April (The Model) was downtown in a parking garage....not very glamorous at all.

Time

Shot was taken mid afternoon...every photographers favorite direct sunlight, harsh shadows time of day.

Lighting

The workshop was all about natural lighting. No flash, no strobes, no reflectors. Just the sun

Equipment

I love my Nikon D800. My hard drive hates the massive large files but we compromise with external space. Nothing else was used.....Edited in LR and Photoshop using Dani Diamond's Natural Light method.

Inspiration

We were looking for an area that had some shade. The parking garage and chain link fence looked so industrial behind the pretty and soft model.

Editing

Lightroom and Photoshop are my go to's for every picture. Lightroom for WB and lots of dodging, burning and some frequency separation. Nothing too overdone, I hope.

In my camera bag

In my bag I always carry My Camera (duh), my Nikon F4 24-120mm Lens One Extra battery, external Flash, extra SD card, lens cleaning kit and a travel tripod. I also carry chip clips, safety pins, tape and hair ties....

Feedback

When shooting during the day it is best to find an area that offers some shade from the direct glare of the sun. Under expose 2 stops and bring the brightness back in the edit.
