Behind The Lens

I made this photo in a small petting zoo where I've never been before. It was a surprise to me that there was one on that spot. I came there by 'accident'.
It was around noon in the summer of 2014.
It was a bit cloudy that day and it diffused the natural light perfectly. So I didn't have a hard time to find the right camerasettings.
I used my Nikon D90 and my wonderful Nikon 80-400 telelens. That's all.
In the morning I had a photoshoot with a family whose mother was terminally ill. They wanted a last picture of the family together. So you can imagine it was an emotional morning and I had to calm down a bit after the shoot. On my way home I accidentally came by a small petting zoo. It was a gift to find it, because it was the perfect way for me to calm down. To see these youngsters playing in the field made me cry at first, but after a while it brought some peace to me. Well, I realized it's the circle of life in a way. So for me this picture is so much more than a picture of two sweet fawns. For me it's about love, family, death and new life.
In Photoshop I made the picture lighter, a bit sunnier. Thats all.
In my camera bag
My relatively new Nikon D750, my Nikon 50 mm, my Nikon 80-400 mm tele and 24-200 mm. A small gold and silver reflector and sometimes my tripod. Good quality basics do the trick for me.
Sometimes patience brings you what you wish for. With this picture it took a while for the setting was right. No disturbing background, good light and finally the fawns stood there as I hoped for. So don't always walk by and think: "Oh well, it's nice enough like it is". Just wait and wait and hopefully you can take the perfect picture.
