I shot this in the early afternoon. Duck Creek is actually a tidal inlet which in this photo is filled with salt marsh grasses.Lighting
The scene was able to make the best of the natural light.Equipment
I use a Canon Mark III 5D with a Tameron 28-300 telephoto lens. I have the Canon 28-300 lens which I purchased when I bought my camera, but it's weight is too much for me to do any sustained handheld photos so my Tameron is my go to lens. This photo was made without a tripod and without a flash.Inspiration
After we had found a spot to park behind a building in town, I explored a path next to my car to see where it led. I shortly found this rickety pier jutting over the marsh grass and shot a series of pictures. This one is my favorite of the series and one of my favorite all time photos.Editing
In the post processing, the only things which I did were to lightly adjust the light and tighten the focus a bit.In my camera bag
I have my Canon Mark III with the Tameron 28-300 lens with my almost always. Depending upon where I am going, I add what I think I may need, a monopod or tripod, a speedlite or other lights. Extra batteries, charger...Feedback
It is wonderful to travel and one can see amazing sights to use as your springboard to your eye's creativity, but capturing the beauty, the interesting, the emotions of what your mind sees and then wants to communicate, only requires you and the places you go, near or far.
