You captured this lion so stunningly, he looks so alive and the eyes are beautifully intense. Congrats

Beautiful capture of the subject. Tight framing isolates the important features, and puts the eyes in the top third of the frame. Great choice to use B&W (not color) to bring out the character.
Great work!

Location
I took this photograph on a day trip to Paradise Wildlife Park, I was able to get more personal with the Big Cats as I got the meet and greet of the Big Cats package, so this was as they were starting to wake up.Time
This was taken around 9AM as the lions were just waking up.Lighting
For this particular shot i didn't use a flash, just natural lighting as the white lion was just waking up and i didn't want to disturb his wakeup call.Equipment
The camera used was a Nikon D7000 with a 70-300mm nikon lens, no tripod was used for his photo. I used the railing as a steadying tool as I didn't want to miss out on some shots of this beautiful animal.Inspiration
I get inspired just from the love I have for animals, especially those you don't see everyday. So for me as a self taught amateur wildlife photographer, just seeing a beautiful animal will inspire me to want to stay a while get cosy and be patient for that special moment.Editing
With post processing I usually just correct the exposure, but here I created two versions of the image, one which was marked for the background, and the second one just to correct the exposure, combining them to take the distraction of the background away from disturbing the main subject. In my camera bag
I always take my 70-300mm lens for wildlife photography not to disturb the animals, a Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR Lens for macro photography, as most zoos have a reptile or butterfly house where you can take some macro shots. A set of 13mm, 20mm and 30mm extension tubes, but rarely use these as the macro lens works fine. The last lens a take with me is my 15mm-20mm wide angle lens by nikon. The last two things I take with me is my tripod and a remote control so that when i do use my tripod the remote will stop the camera shake which would happen if I tried to press the button on the camera.Feedback
When it comes to wildlife photography I find that its best to be patient, have the camera at the ready, and when at a zoo or in the wild don't allow others to tell you that your staying in one place too long.
