A nightshot taken at the Mt. Dobratsch (2166m) in Austria, Carinthia. The conditions at that night were just awesome. First I planned to take some time lapse sequences during the night, after taking a look at the first images I recognized the really cool mood at this mountain and the awesome view. To the left and the right is fog coloured by cities and street lamps, the bright spot above my head is our neighbour universe, the andromeda universe, to the right of the universe is our milky way and the left green spots is a phenomenon called airglow and above the Andromeda there is even the Comet Lovejoy. Never ever got that perfect conditions so far.

Location
This photo has been taken on the top of the Austrian mountain Dobratsch (2.166m) next to the city VillachTime
The time was around of 10 o'clock pm after a whole day of shooting time lapseLighting
This one is a long exposure captured in the middle of the night, the fog has been lighted by the streetlamp and house lights as there are a lot of villages in the valley. The mountain got a lot of light by a near house on the top of the mountain. One special effect in this picture is the green tint in the sky. It was coming by a rare phenomen called Airglow. In this picture you can see also a part of the milky way and our neighbour galaxy, the andromeda galaxy.Equipment
This has been shot with a Nikon D600, Walimex 14mm 2.8, Manfrotto Tripod and I have been lighted by a turned on iPad mini as a light sourceInspiration
I really love portraits which combine the an awesome landscape and when I was capturing the landscape for my time lapse movie, I recognised how intense the foreground has been lighted, so I gave it a try to capture the landscape combined with a kind of portrait. And there was it.Editing
It got color adjustments and changes of the exposure completely by lightroom. Photoshop has been used too, but only to sharp the edges of my hand, as it was not that easy to keep my hands steady for 30 secondsIn my camera bag
I have a lot of different equipment with me, depending on the shoot I am doing. In this case I got two tripods, a Nikon D600 and a Nikon D5100 with me. Lenses were the Nikon 16-35 F4, Walimex 14mm 2.8, Tamron 24-70 2.8, Nikon 70-300 and some other stuff like three filters, four batteries, my iPad, a TP Link router for remote control, IR Remote and some different small stuff.Feedback
Keep on trying to capture night skies and learn how to handle your camera with the ISO and the usage in that scenario. When you know how to capture this, go and search for an indirect lightning next to your position, stand in front of it and use the same settings as you use for a single star picture and stay as steady as possible, if necessary use a 2nd light source like I have used, my iPad.
