I love this! I have tried to capture this little critter, and it is very difficult. Congratulations on a beautiful photo.

I took this photo just in front of my home. I have a lilac bush that was in bloom and the moths were attracted to the flowers.Time
It was July 11th and a gorgeous sunny day. I was sitting on the veranda with some friends and noticed the hummingbird moths. I couldn't believe they were actually in my yard, I have never seen one around in this area before. I grabbed my camera and got a little closer. It was two o'clock in the afternoon.Lighting
It was the middle of the day and the sun was above me so I knelt down and got under the moth.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 5D Mark III with a 70-200 lens at 200. ISO 500 1/800 sec. F 6.3.Inspiration
I love to capture the beauty that surrounds me especially anything outdoors. I was so excited to see something new in my area.Editing
I didn't have to do anything to the photo. I think I had my polarizing filter on my lens.In my camera bag
I usually have my 100-400 zoom attatched to my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. I like to have my 70-200 zoom and a 20 mm fixed lens as well as my 24-105 zoom. I like to have a spare charged battery ad well. I need to start carrying my tripod as well.Feedback
Use A zoom so that that you can get a little closer to your subject. Use a higher shutter speed. Try and capture the highlight in the eye. A catchlight occurs when your subject is sidelit or front lit on a nice sunny day. Choose the best focal length and compose your picture so that it is pleasing to the eye.
