Location
At a local Falconry Centre called Feathers and Fur near where I live.Time
It was just after lunch and the light had not been brilliant for the flying shots.Lighting
There was a storm coming and the dark clouds behind her was a great natural backdrop.Equipment
Shot on a Canon 450D with a Tamron 70 - 300 mm lens. No flash.Inspiration
I was quite new to photography and the first time I had photographed birds of prey. In my mind when I started it was all about getting that perfect flying shot, which on reflection was not very realistic. "Meg" was so trusting of her handler, and I just loved the look on her face when she was looking at her and wanted to capture it.Editing
Minimal - I just added some drama in a program called Snapseed to bring out the detail of her feathers. In my camera bag
I currently have a 6D and 450d body. Canon L lenses, 70 - 300mm, 24 - 105 mm, 16-25 mm wide angle and a 100 mm macro lens. Lee filter big stopper system and polarisers, spare batteries and memory cards.Feedback
Look for that different shot. It's very easy to end up capturing what has already been captured. Get on the floor and try different angles and never think an idea is a bad one - there's always the delete button if it doesn't work !
