This photo was taken on an autumn evening just as the sun was setting.Lighting
I was thankful that the intense light of the sun was shaded by the clouds just a few moments earlier enabling me to get and exposure that allowed for some shadow detail in the cornstalks.Equipment
This photograph was shot using a Canon 5D Mark III with Canon EF 24-105mm L lens using a tripod with an exposure time of 1/80 second at ISO 100 with an aperture of f/10.I also used a Lee graduated split ND filter.Inspiration
I looked out my window one autumn evening and noticed that a great sunset was in the making. I then rushed to this spot, wanting to have something else in the photo, perhaps a nice silhouette, instead of just the just alone.Editing
Yes, a little. Since I shoot RAW the photo required some contrast adjustments, sharpening, and such. I also lightened the shadows a little in Adobe Lightroom and applied a little noise reduction in those same areas.In my camera bag

A graduated split ND filter is very useful with the lighting extremes typical with this type of composition. However, since the sun and clouds cooperated this time to knock down the brightness of the sun significantly, I believe I only used a 1 stop ND grad. filter here.
