Location
I was cycling or hiking between small villages not to far from Stuttgart Airport. Many farms in Germany have small sections of land rented out for private gardens, but I think where I was they have commercial gardening for flower shops and retail stores.Time
I have to double check the time of day, but in Germany during the summer they have earlier sunrise and later sunsets then cities like Chicago. However, during the winter months they have less daylight hours. I have to double check,, but I think I took this shot during the morning walk and looking easterly.Lighting
Lighting I just used the auto white balance and increased the shutter for the sunlight in the backgroundEquipment
Camera a Nikon D90, then I just used the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my D60Inspiration
I have walked or hiked along the trails that run between the farm fields on a regular basis, and just had a wonderful lighting. Somehow, even though I have shot many flowers and gardens before, I am still searching to capture the perfect flower and never seem to be tired of taking landscape shotsEditing
I think with this photo I only rotated it, and very minimal editingIn my camera bag
when traveling light I just take my D90 camera and a 50f1.8 prime lense in my Lowepro topload zoom 50, with my Crumpler 6 million dollar bag or my Lowepro I think its the Fastpack 250aw, I take my 24f2.8, 50f1.8 , Metz 50 af- flash, battery grip for the camera, spare batteries, Sometimes I also take my Sigma 105 f2.8macro lens. I also have filters on all my lenses for protection, then the one filter I never leave home without is my Hoya Circular polarizing filter. ND8 and a ND400 from Hoya. The one lens that I would like to get is the 35 f1.8, since I was always pleased with its sharpness and clarity. and a Manfrotto 190xprob tripod and 498rc2 ball head. I wanted the 498rc2 for its heavier load capacity when using my battery grip in the portrait position. Unless flying out of town I keep the laptop at home since to much gear is difficult on my knees with long hoursFeedback
Often I enjoy spending time outdoors on my own since I can stop and admire the scenery and spend as little or much time as I need. Also since going on cycling and hiking trails the photography is a great way to stay healthy.
