Location
It was taken on Bayou Bonfouca in Slidell, Louisiana at the boat launch next to Heritage Park.Time
It was taken at 8:27 AM November 24, 2014Lighting
I was riding around that morning looking for something to shoot in the early morning light with the fog that had settled in during the night.Equipment
Canon 60D, EF-S17-55mm f/2.8IS, Induro C313 tripod with Induro ball head BHL2. Magic Lantern software running along side of canon's, ML HDR LR/Enfuse on the 60D. Three shots -2, 0, +2 EV.Inspiration
That morning with a great looking fog and the hopes of capturing something great was quickly disappearing. I was passing through Heritage Park when I saw all the colors in the trees on the far bank. I quickly wheeled into the boat parking lot grabbed my camera already mounted on the tripod with remote shutter release attached from the back seat with all settings already dialed in all I had to do then was set the exposure and trigger the camera and Magic Lantern took over from there.Editing
I used LR/Enfuse to blend the three shots and finished up using LR5 for the rest of the image. In my camera bag
The 17-55mm lens stays on my camera most of the time with the 70-300mm lens in the bag along with my X-Rite color checker passport, CPL, ND filter, extra lens cloth, 580 flash, extra batteries for the flash and the camera. A new garbage bag just in case I get caught in the rain to protect my gear.Feedback
When I head out in the morning I put the camera on the tripod, attach them remote shutter release and set my camera setting to what I think I want as this allows me to make small adjustments to settings if needed. Then I put all of this on the back seat of my car spreading two of the legs on the tripod just enough to make the gear stable for the ride. I am ready to set up and take the shot most of the time without making any changes. It works for me.
