Location
I took this picture in the suburbs of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was cold that day and I was looking around for an interesting point of view. I wanted to capture the cold Canadian winter in a drop!Time
I don't remember exactly when, but I think I otol the picture in the afternoon. I used to go out for a walk on weekends with my Pentax DSLR.Lighting
Winter scene, so obviously very bright. I didn't use a flash on this one.Equipment
My good old Pentax K-X and a 55-300mm Pentax. No tripod, no flashInspiration
The idea behind this picture was a snowy globe. I tried to recreate that. I wanted to put winter in a drop, or a globe.Editing
Yes, I converted to black and white, cropped the picture, and sharpened the image here and there, adjusting for levels as well.In my camera bag
I tend to go light. I like to be mobile therefore I only take the minimum I need - often I just go without a bag. So typically I would carry with me a DSLR (Pentax KX), 18-55 and 55-300mm lenses, circular polarizer and some seeds. The seeds are for the birds that I love to snap!Feedback
Spend some time looking for a good scene. I used to shoot everything that I could but ended up with gigabytes of pictures that I never even looked at. Now I try to be more selective and try to only capture what I think will work. I have drastically reduced the amount of 'average' pictures I take. Plus it's less stressful to only deal with a 'roll' or two, rather than ~1000 pictures per day
