Location
I took this photo in downtown South Bend Indiana near Howard Park.Time
This was taken about 1 in the afternoon.Lighting
Natural lighting and I believe the white ice help reflect up some of the sunlight to the underside of the bridge.Equipment
I used my trusty Canon Powershot S120 hand held for this shot. I was traveling light.Inspiration
I was inspired by the location. There is a small path that I took the photo from where you can see the bridge over the top of you. I thought it was a novel perspective. I also liked the texture of the rusty bridge contrasted with the winter blue sky.Editing
Yes, I did a bit of post processing. I used lightroom to process the photo to pump up the sky and the texture of the steel bridge. In my camera bag
I usually carry a 28-105mm, 10-22mm, 70-300mm and a 50mm prime in my bag. These lenses usually cover most if not all situations I usually shoot. I sometimes pull out the heavy 100-400mm if I know I need that to get up close. For the times I don't want or can't lug around the Canon 50D I carry the Canon Powershot S120 like when I got this photo. I can shoot manual mode with the S120 and the results are pretty good. It is small and can be brought just about anywhere.Feedback
Have a camera with you and explore. I would of not found this place to shoot if I didn't do a bit of exploring. Also, try new perspectives like looking up.
