It was cloudy all morning, with sprinkles. A gloomy fall morning, and then the clouds started to part. I had already planned to take a few shots of the droplets, so I was ready. Naturally filtered light is always the best, especially when shooting reds.Equipment
I used an MP-65mm f/2.8 macro mounted on a Canon 5DMKII. Since this was a pure macro lens, I coupled it to a Velbon slide on a Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration

Canon 5DMKII, Canon 7D and occasionally a Life Pixel modified T1i. Canon 17-40 f/4L or 24-70 f2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L ISII, Canon 50mm f/1.4 Lee Filter system, Lee GND filters, SinghRay RGND Yongnou wireless triggers Wrigleys Cobalt gum. The MP-65 is long gone. I sold it, since I really did not have a need for such a specialized glass.Feedback
Nerves of steel, a good tripod and nothing but manual focus. Also, when shooting reds, underexpose a stop or two. I typically dial in -1.0EV. I still own the Velbon slider, as I like the ability to fine tune both the X and Y axis when shooting this close. I heartily recommend such a tool if you are serious about macro.
