Behind The Lens

Location

This Picture has been taken in the Zoo. I would like to spend time in the Zoo because I am able to create pictures like this. I try to visit Zoo's with Big cats like Lions, Tigers and Leopards. I realy spend some time with this Lion and suddenly He yawned and I could take this picture.

Time

This picture was made at the end of the day before closing time of the Zoo, I remember it was in the afternoon. The lion did pose very nice for me and ofcourse for a lot of other visitors. It was that busy with people I could not use my Tripod, but I figured there was enough light to shoot without tripod. The Lion was behind a glas wall and i did put the lens againts the glas wal this was enough to give me time to produce a stady shot.

Lighting

The lighting was almost perfect because there was great light because it was already late at afternoon. I thought about the reflexion there could be from the glass wal. The lens againts the wall was perfect, there was no reflexion and because the lenshood was on my lens there was no flair of light.

Equipment

The picture has been taken in 2008 with my old Konica Minolta DYNAX 5D. The lens mounted was a 300mm lens at diafragma F6.3 at shutter speed 1/320 sec. I did not use a flash.

Inspiration

I always saw great pictures of big cats on the Internet and I thought I could and would like to great pictures of a big cat also.

Editing

Picture has been shot in RAW and the picture has been edited in lightroom.

In my camera bag

This picture has been made with my old camera the Minolta DYNAX 5d and a 24-300mm Sigma lens, both not in use anymore but My Equipment is; Camera Sony A77 Lenses : Sony 24-70 mm Sony 70-200 mm Sigma 10-20 mm Sigma 105 mm macro minolta 50mm (1.7) and Sigma 50mm macro

Feedback

If You want to practice for taking pictures of "wild" animals You have to try to get to the Zoo, they are accustomed to people. I always try to take the pictures if they are made in the wild, so no fences or other people. Always try to capture a special moment or a habbit of the animal makes the picture better and exceptional.
