You captured a great scene! Have been there many times with lots of water, less water, etc. and love it. Including the benches makes a great view!

Location
This is Tom Branch Falls in the Deep Creek area in Bryson City NC in part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. One of my favorite fall photo opps places around with usually plenty of beautiful colors. It seems like the last couple years the colors have been gorgeous in our area and this photo is more proof that I am right.Time
I think the best time of day to shoot this little spot is probably in the later afternoon say around 4 or 5 pm. If you shoot at this spot in the morning the sun is kind of going against you in this spot where I would be shooting this shot. Cloudy days are my favorite times to shoot my watery scenes.Lighting
The lighting here is kind of hard in the morning times as the sunlight would be coming up from the right of this spot in the fall if I remember correctly. Its a beautiful spot and I think the late afternoon is the best time to shoot this one and on cloudy days.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3100 on this shot with my trusty Tokina 12-28 mm lens and tripod. I love the silky look to the watery scenes myself and you must have a tripod or a trusty stump to sit your camera on on the longer exposures.Inspiration
I love this spot and when I came up on it and seen the beautiful colors I was very excited to see it looking like this. This is an easy hike as well as it is mostly a flat wide road type pathway right to it.Editing
I did use post processing on this shot as to darken it a little and give it some boldness in the colors. But for the most part I don't like doing a lot of editing on my work. I want it to be as close to as out of the camera as possible. In my camera bag
Personally I want to always keep Lens Cleaner in my bag as I shoot a lot of watery scenes and there is always a chance of having problems with the over lay of water hitting your lenses and camera as well. I probably carry more than I should most of the time. I have an Extra Battery as you never know how many photos I am going to take. Anywhere from 300-1000 I have taken over 1,200 in an outing before so you never know and its better safe that sorry. I have learned over time its always good to have a spare battery even in case you do like me and forget to Charge your battery.Feedback
Look for Cloudy Days and even a little Drizzle of Rain is not a bad thing. Just carry an Umbrella with you. Some of my favorite shots have been done with a tripod either in hand or covering my camera. If your going to go to a place where there is going to be lots of other photographers get out as early as you can and still get the lighting you wish for of course to beat the crowds. Be patient if there is others there and take LOTS of Pictures and maybe most of all? Enjoy God's creations and the nature and beauty we all have to share.
