Thank you so much. They are lovely donkeys, two brothers looked after at a local nature reserve.

Behind The Lens

Location

Took this at Murton Nature Reserve in Angus, Scotland.

Time

A sunny afternoon in February.

Lighting

No - just natural sunlight.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon SX60 HS. No other equipment.

Inspiration

There is no great story behind this. I like taking photos of birds and animals and these donkeys (brothers called Ernie and Floppy) are friendly characters who will happily pose all day just for the attention.

Editing

No. I am a point and shoot type of photographer and what I see is what you get!!

In my camera bag

My Canon SX60 is my main camera although I do have a few even more basic ones - no other equipment. I do however usually carry peanuts when I'm looking to shoot birds or squirrels!!

Feedback

This is a very simple, straightforward shot. Great patience is usually a requisite in wildlife photography - if you don't have patience go to a zoo or nature reserve and practice on a captive audience like these donkeys. Be friendly with your subjects - let the experience be pleasant for them as well as for you. If the subject is relaxed and comfortable with you then you are likely to get a better result. Success with this shot shows you don't need the most expensive or professional equipment.
