Location
The photo was taken outside my house in the driveway on the Central Coast of California. I seem to be very familiar with the lighting in this area like the back of my hand.Time
June 15th on a Saturday evening at 6:20 P.M., though the sun is still high and bright still.Lighting
It was all the sun's doing I swear it. Nothing compares to the natural beauty of sunlight gleaming off those chrome wheels and '85 'vette body.Equipment
My old Canon Rebel T2i(R.I.P.) and with it the EF50mm f/1.8 II was all that was used for this shot. Though I'm almost positive there was a UV filter on the lens and couldn't say what brand it may have been either. No tripod.Inspiration
Oddly enough my inspiration derived from Hot Wheels cars. I remember growing up with them practically my whole life, yet I'm not a huge fan of automobiles anymore. That left me in my late 20's. A costly hobby to say the least about it but I do respect the entire community around cars in general.Editing
Lightroom adjustments was the only editing I did with this photo. I wanted the background to be difficult to make out but I also wanted the chrome wheel to really stand out so I had to drop the highlights way down just so the reflection was clear as day. I bumped up the contrast a little and turned up the clarity. You see what you see at f/1.8 at 1/1000 shutter speed, 200 ISO.In my camera bag
Canon Rebel T3i with EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II lens is really all I ever pull out anymore and it's basically ready for any bird I want to capture. I have an assortment of lenses in my bag that hardly get used, sadly. Anything else is with my Galaxy S8+ "smartphone" anymore.Feedback
I guess even if you are just testing out your new equipment it's always best to keep what you captured. Even if it does take up all that space on your hard drives. I couldn't go as far as saying "your test shots are your best shots" but if this is the case try going back into those lost archives because you might have missed something your first set of eyes have missed before.
