Location
This image was taken at a place called Fingal, Tweed Heads, Australia.Time
About 1pmLighting
It was the middle of the day, so the light was quite strong, being directly overhead, so I set up under the jetty in the shadows. The lines of the shadows also create leading lines which compliment the pipes and structure of the jetty.Equipment
Canon 5dmk2,Canon 17-40L f4, Lee Big Stopper, tripod for the long exposure.Inspiration
I had been wanting to get back down to this location for some time, as I had been previously for a sunrise shoot. I hadnt had a chance to use the big stopper for a while so I thought I`d head down and try a day time long exposure. I wanted more of the blue sky apparent as opposed to the golden hour of sunrise.Editing
Not too much if I can recall.(it was about 5 months ago) Levels and curves, probably some tonal contrast in Nik.In my camera bag
1 camera body, Canon 5dmk2, I now have the Canon 16-35L f2.8, Canon 70-200 II f.2.8, Canon 50mm f 1.4, Lee 1.2 ND, Lee 1.2 soft grad, Lee Bigstopper, spare batteries, spare CF cards, Cleaning cloths, torch, mosquito repellantFeedback
Try and practice different things. Think outside the norm. This was shot in the middle of the day so a sturdy tripod and good quality filters were used. Think about composition, look for leading lines, different points of view, perspectives. You can never stop learning and striving to improve The main thing is to get out, enjoy and have fun with your photography.
