Behind The Lens

Location

This Tiger was photographed at Woburn Safari Park Woburn Safari Park is a safari park located in Woburn, Bedfordshire, England. you can drive through the exhibits, which contain species such as southern white rhino, elephants, tigers, and black bears

Time

It was around 16:30 in the afternoon, we decided to have one last drive through the tiger reserve before heading off home, we had a 4-hour drive to face, but relay in setting off was worth it

Lighting

At that time of the day, the sun was slowly dropping so we had nice soft light to work with

Equipment

I was using a Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM mark 1 Lens! This was shot captured at 1/640 f/5.6 ISO 3200 shot at 400 mm through the glass passenger front N/S window

Inspiration

I and my wife both love wildlife photography! For me. it's all about photographing the big cat's, Lions Tigers, Cheaters, Leopards, This beautiful male tiger caught my attention with its handsome looks during the morning at around 10 am, but he was not looking like he wanted his photo taken, we said we will come back later on in the day before we go home

Editing

I use Photoshop CS5 for post-processing work on this image, I now use CS6 and CC 2020 The only work I did here was a small adjustment to the highlights and shadows sliders, a small amount of sharpening, and remove a lot of grain due to the high ISO used

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark II Canon 7D Mark II Canon EF 14mm f/2.8 L USM Lens Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 Prime Lens Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM Lens Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens Spare memory cards and charged batteries, shutter release cable, polarizing filter Lightweight waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, flashlight, small beanbag

Feedback

Yes be very quiet, take your time, and most of all you need to be very patient, Set up your equipment and wait, watch their movements, get to know your subject, if you don't get the shot you want keep going back to the same spot until you succeed, and please remember they are animals and they need our respect, we are in there space Wild Animals never do what you want them to do, also you need to gain their trust, good luck with your wildlife photography
