Behind The Lens

Location

In my garage (gets messy). lights off pitch black.

Time

Afternoon, irrelevant as indoors in the dark.

Lighting

2 x flashguns on low power, trigger by homemade arduino based sound detector. 12ms after gun fires flashes are triggered, shutter already open (its dark so the flash duration is shutter speed). the gun is approx 18 inches from target.

Equipment

Canon 7d, 70-210mm lens, tripod, trigger system, 2 yongnou flashes, wireless trigger from system.

Inspiration

i like to photograph stuff you cant catch with the naked eye, love macro as well.

Editing

Minimal, highlight reduced, light crop.

In my camera bag

dependant on where what i am doing. Always have 7d, 24-70L, sigma 150-500 maybe 6d and sigma 12-24 as well

Feedback

Patience, it may be a trigger system but takes hours to set up. Getting timing right (many gun shots at cocktail sticks to know if too early or late), blacking out the room and the clearing up after, tried with eggs and they went everywhere!
