A terrific shot and big congratulations on the feature. Love the muted colours but the expression and hand on the head make it for me :)

I took this photo in my first boutique studio. I've since moved to a new studio since this was taken!Time
It was a morning session that was scheduled by the client for their 'Cake Collision' cake smash session.Lighting
I used an Elinchrom RX400 D-Lite in a 120cm octagon double-diffused softbox.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 7D and Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens.Inspiration
I was hired by a client to capture a cake smash session. I branded my cake smash sessions as 'Cake Collision' just to be a bit different to everyone else. I like simple cake smash set ups, where the baby is the focus, not the props around them.Editing
Yes, I used a Florabella action, I think it was 'Sorbet' from the 'Colorplay' action set for this one.In my camera bag
I don't carry a bag around because I primarily shoot in the studio. But, if I go out of the studio, I always have my camera and my 135mm lens on me.Feedback
Just get those in-between moments and faces. I find that cake smash sessions that are heavily propped out, really take away from the baby. A cake smash is supposed to be a celebration of the baby, and keeping it simple means that the baby and the cake catch your attention, not the overly-propped backgound.
