I was visiting my sister in Larkspur, Co and there they have amazing barns and no light pollution! It was very cold and windy my first practicing night photography.Time
It was around 12 -2 am. We just got back from Karaoke and I just happened to have my camera for the occasion. This is right around the corner from her house.Lighting
Since this photo was taken, I've learned a whole lot more about night photography. I would say lighting up your subject for a few seconds is important to make your photo pop. Light pollution is one of the most underrated negatives of night photography that most people think they can't do it. But if you get away from all that and find that you can just look up and see the night sky in all it's glory, you will get a sense of renewal and try again!Equipment
I think this was with my t2i and 18-55 lens. I didn't start getting serious about night photography until after a couple sessions.Inspiration
I loved the sight of this barn with the mountains in the background. I was researching astrophotography a whole lot and felt inspired when I drove by this place.Editing
I definitely lightened the shade areas as well as tried to bring out the stars. Most astrophotography generally use processing to bring out what the camera couldn't.In my camera bag
Now I bring all my lenses everywhere so I don't miss an opportunity! 11-16mm 2.8 18-135mm 90mm 2.8 50mm 1.8 I also have a tripod and various lighting/flashes.Feedback
You never know what people are going to like. I took this photo my first astrophoto and honestly I don't particularly think it's the best. But it got voted and I love that people took the time to! Don't give up, always look up your interests on youtube, learn lighting. Those are the most important! I used to just snap and go, but taking the time, at least 15 min to set up your shot, definitely move your camera for different angles, take multiple shots at different settings. I now use a 11-16 for those wide angle shots it helps to bring in elements that another lens leaves out.
