Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken at an air show in Leuchars. These are some of the Red Arrows, the RAF aerobatic display team, they are so much fun to take photos of, their stunts are amazing.
Time
The Red Arrows ended the show this time. We had travelled up to the show early in the morning but this shot was taken about 4pm in the afternoon.
Lighting
The lighting in this shot is mostly due to the sky looking quite stormy and dramatic. This really makes he smoke from the planes stand out against the grey, making the whole image more powerful.
Equipment
This was taken with my canon 60d and one of the first outings with my 70-300mm lens that was quite new at the time.
Inspiration
My boyfriend is a huge fan of all types of airplanes, we go to a lot of air shows. But the red arrows are always so amazing that I am always looking to get more shots of them, especially with the iconic smoke coming out of them!
Editing
I did some playing about with the colour levels but that's all.
In my camera bag
I usually have my long 70-300mm lens in my bag and definitely my 50mm prime lens, I wouldn't go without that one!
Feedback
If you do go to an air show then have continous shooting mode on your camera. These planes go so fast that you can easily miss the shot you wanted. I usually end up viewing the while air show through my viewfinder so I don't miss anything!
