Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the basement of my home studio. It was a little last minute thought at the time to go down to the basement as to really show off the colors and the knitted hats really well.

Time

This was taken late at night seeing the girls we're over hanging out for a little get together I was having at my house. I'd say around 11pm or so.

Lighting

For what I believe to be a great photo the lightening was very simple. I find some of the best photos I produce come from simple light setups or just from using natural lights. Sometimes, "Less is More".

Equipment

I used a Nikon D300s with an external light on a stand. No Flash.

Inspiration

The two subjects are good friends of mine and twins. The hats were made by the one sister Keren, on the right. I was doing this as a project for myself and to promote her knitting. I had a setup in mind of having the two of them together to make it look like they were one person even tho as twins they have many differences. I believe it came out the way I had anticipated.

Editing

All I did in the way of post processing was do a little desaturating.

In my camera bag

I usually keep an assortment of lenses in my bag depending on the job I have that day. I also keep two d5100 and one D300s body in the bag as well. I have two flashes.

Feedback

Don't fret if u don't have any high end lights with stands. In the case of this photo you can also get a scoop light with a clamp from any hardware store and clamp it to some rafters or beams. For such a loved photo of mine it was a really easy setup like I had mentioned.
