Behind The Lens

Location
This photos was taken at CocoC, a very high class restaurant in my home City of Boemfontein, South Africa. The design and decor of the place is amazing, and gave us so much to work with.
Time
This was one of the first photos we took during the shoot, early afternoon, around 3pm.
Lighting
All natural light coming from the balcony on the right side. no reflectors, but the light did bounce off the white carpet a bit, witch was great.
Equipment
Canon 550D 50mm fixed Canon lens np tripod no reflector
Inspiration
We were going for a very glamorous look, with very dramatic lighting. This shoot was done for a local fashion designer, and we mostly wanted the attention to be on the dress.
Editing
Lowered the saturation a bit, and upped the contrast just a bit as well. Enhanced the skin with the healing brush tool. Dodge and Burn also came in handy to bring out a few details on the dress, as well as the hair.
In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 650D with me, as well as my 50mm fixed lens.
Feedback
When looking for locations, check the lighting at different times of the day. If we went any other time of the day I wouldn't have been able to get this shot. Timing is everything when working with natural light. How you direct your model is also very important. The angle of the face to the light source can make or break a photo. But this type of shot in regards to the lighting, can be done almost anywhere, even with studio lighting.
