Location
I am a self taught photographer and digital artist, this image is made up of several individual images. Some locations are around and about the Yorkshire Dales.Time
The lighting in this image was achieved by using a few photoshop techniques. A very handy way of creating light and shade is using the gradient tool.Lighting
Lighting all depends on what it is you are trying to achieve. I use a white brush in photoshop to help pin point and light up parts of my images.Equipment
I have used a compact canon camera for most of my images but it is the use of photoshop that really gives me the freedom to make much more of my images.Inspiration
What inspires me to take a photo is to capture the atmosphere, feeling and emotions of my subjects be they landscapes, people or objects, expressing this in colour, light, texture and shade.Editing
I often start with my images in photoshop and use the basic tools such as levels and exposure to make sure I have the right level of light and shade before I go on to manipulate my images. I also make sure there are no distractions or flaws in the images which can be masked out before I start. In my camera bag
I started with a simple canon compact camera but I have now recently bought a canon digital slr camera which will give me a whole new challenge to my work.Feedback
To create an image similar to this gather several of your images together and pull out what it is you like about that image and use it to create something new. Photoshop and Lightroom are both good fun to use and learn. Take time to experiment with the tools they both have to offer. Create textures to add to your images. Take a picture of a teabag, a piece of cloth or even the grain in a piece of wood and use these to see what you can achieve. The world really is your oyster when it comes to textures and this can be a lot of fun photographing as well.
