Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during a trip taken over the Christmas holidays of 2014. Merry Christmas to us!

Time

This was early morning, high in the mountains after a fresh overnight snow.

Lighting

The lighting was perfect for shooting snow. Not bright sunny but a tad overcast.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Canon 1DX and a Canon 800mm prime lens. A tripod and gimbal head are a must for this set up.

Inspiration

Editing

Very little. I'll layer the image several times, just to highlight different areas of the image. The eyes really need to pop.

In my camera bag

Canon 1DX body, 2 Canon 1Ds Mark III bodies, 800mm prime it's my go to for all wildlife shots.

Feedback

Patience, practice!! You have to shoot everyday. Doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot something. Become so familiar with your camera that you can make setting adjustments without looking away from you subject. There will be times that you miss the shot because you looked away to change that setting.
