Photo was taken 19.7. at 21:42h, it was a calm summer nightLighting
Lighting was set for event and dancer performance so lights and lasers were constantly moving and changing intensity and dancer was moving also (duh!) so I was chasing moments when dancer was in a light and one of lights is not shining into camera, but on a good side light was creating interesting patterns.Equipment
Photo was shot with Canon 550D with a kit lens (18-55mm), nothing else was used.Inspiration
I was taking photos of performance and dancer was dancing right by the pool. It was calm summer night with slight breeze that was going on and off so reflection on pool was little rippled but still good. So I positioned myself on the other side of pool and took photos. I was lucky to catch moment when breeze completely stopped and light was on a dancer so I got perfect mirror-like reflection.Editing
For this photo I did minimal post-processing - little exposure compensation and that was it.In my camera bag
I recently switcher from Canon 550D to Sony A7R, so Sony A7R, Sony 28-70, Flektogon 2.4/35mm, helios 44-2 and few m42 extension tubes...Feedback
My first advice would be when photographing performances to be "invisible" ie. to not get in a way of dancer or audience or between so you don't distract anyone. I don't use flash for same reasons and also ambient lights get lost and that feel of the moment/performance are not transferred to photo. My second advice would be to look for interesting angle and not just click away but wait for dramatic moments during the dance.
