Up the back end of a small mountain / large hill in Sintra, portugal! My ability to define whether it was a mountain or a hill is nullified by the amount of climbing we did to get there.Time
Roughly 2pmLighting
Sometimes you luck out, the time we got to this summit point was absolutely perfect to use the sun itself as a perfect key light, playing ball in both shadowing and highlighting!Equipment
My trusty steady arms, my 135mm F2 L lens baby and the canon 5D MK II I cradle to all shoots. I did have other lighting equipment with me (a lovely bag of modifiers on top of my actual camera bag attached to my by this time aching spine) .. but sometimes it is just the simple stuff needed.Inspiration
Climbing the mountain was pretty good inspiration, I knew I wanted to get a shot that included the view, and I really wanted to use my 135 to really make my model stand out against such a lovely view.Editing
As sad as this is to admit, I may possibly of added Jupiter, maybe.. you see despite my wishes for a new planet to hover in orbit I had to fudge this one using photoshop wizardry. Also people don't spontaneously illuminate light halos (and I really wish they did because I have a love of halos!) aside form all this it was just some colour work, definition and clean up.In my camera bag
my bag is woefully under stocked compared to my wants but I like to keep a range of lenses so it currently consists of my 135mm F2 L, (nifty) 50mm F1.8 and a prehistoric age 20-35mm F2.8 L (I think you could kill a person with that lens for it's weight!). On top of this I always carry flashguns, triggers and some modifiers from just lightspheres / powersnoots up to octoboxes and stands.Feedback
Find a mountain. ... haha ok no, sorry this shot is all about having a grand vista behind a long lens, so you need a nice long lens, which you will then use at the shallowest depth of field possible. Add into the mix a beautiful backdrop of your choosing, and a suitably attired model and bobs your uncle you have a fairly similar image! :)
