Love the dominant orangeish tone in this photo! Also the sun in the middle top which looks like a star! Beautiful capture and congrats on feature!

I had seen many photos of this beautiful maple tree in the Portland Japanese Gardens. Since I was up in the Portland area I decided to have a go at my own capture of this little gem.Editing
Post processed in Adobe Lightroom 4. Basic Shadow and Highlight adjustments, as well as HSL adjustments.In my camera bag

I love capturing sun-stars. It's the reason I purchased the 16-35mm canon lens. The additional blades in the lens provide a superior sun-star. The aperture needs to be around f/18 or higher on other lenses to achieve a nice star. The 16-35mm can achieve a beautiful star effect at only f/13. This shot is all about point-of-view. I was laying on the ground and moving my position to have the star in just the right place. It must have looked pretty silly to those walking by. This tree is actually pretty small, but the point-of view coupled with a wide angle gives a much larger appearance, lending to the overall success of the image.
