This image was taken at Robin Hood bay,near Whitby.YorkshireTime
This was taken early in the morning about 4.45 am.Lighting
I knew that I wanted a very low early morning sun to best light the rocks and hopefully have some nice detail in the sky.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon d300 and a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm. Shot on a tripod and seven exposures.Inspiration
I had visited the location the previous afternoon so I knew where I wanted the shot to be taken from.Editing
The 7 exposures were loaded into Photomatix,an HDR blending program.The resulting tone mapped image was then loaded into photoshop with the original exposures. I then used. Layer masking to create the final image.In my camera bag
I normally carry just one camera body with 3 lenses. A sigma 10-20mm, a Nikon 18-70mm and a sigma 100-300mm f4 for wildlife. A lee filter system with big stopper filter. Tripod plates,remote cable release ,cleaning cloths spare cards and batteries. And a head torch and iPad. If I'm hiking I use a clik elite backpack with travel tripod.Feedback
It's always mentioned that light is everything in photography and I couldn't agree more. As my girlfriend would testify when I wake her up before sunrise to go on a shoot! Also,just as important,try and visit your location before,during the day,so you are not chasing around when the light is at its best. Research online at sites like viewbug to get inspiration and ideas. Probably the best bit of advice I could give is to photograph what you enjoy,you will get the best results.
